ITMI-SIU COLLABORATION
In 2014, India Today Media Institute and the Global Media Research Center (GMRC) at the Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (SIUC), USA, collaborated in an unusual way: To form a shared virtual space that would create and critique artifacts of mutual interest—movies, social issues, political matters, and more. Thanks to the concept and initial efforts by Dr Jyotsna Kapur, Dr Nanu Iyer and Dr Jay Needham of SIUC, and their students, and Prof Shashidhar Nanjundaiah and his students at ITMI, graduate and undergraduate students from both continents would contribute to this space, interact on this platform as well on videoconference, thereby discuss and share culturally different analyses on identical or same issues. Student videos and collaborative research projects also form a part of the activity.
