Commemoration on 1965 War

To mark the golden jubilee of Indo-Pak war, the Government of India organized ‘Shauryanjali’, an exhibition in honour of the valour and intrepid spirit of the soldiers who laid down their lives for the honour of their motherland.
Yesterday (the first of the right-day exhibition) was the first time when fighter planes flew over Rajpath on a day other than Republic Day as Akash Ganga, the skydiving squad of Indian Air Force, did a paradrop from helicopters.
To relive and experience the war scenes, people flocked at India gate lawns to visit the show and exhibition, spread across 28 pavilions that displayed the role of the three services and CRPF in safeguarding India after Pakistan’s Operation Gibraltar sent soldiers for infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir.
However, “celebrating the war” has emerged as a debatable concept entailing human loss and sorrow. This exhibition also became a platform for war widows to reach out to the public to become self-reliant by selling handmade products.
